Bhigwan
Bhigwan is a small town around 100 kms away from Pune and is also referred to as the “Bharatpur of Maharashtra”, as it becomes a hotbed of migratory birds during the winter. Bhigwan is at one end of the huge Yashwant Sagar reservoir, forming the backwaters of the Ujain dam. One of the main attractions during the migratory season is the arrival of the pink greater flamingos. During the months of early jan – late feb, this place is thronged by bird lovers from all over Maharashtra.
Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary consist of dry deciduous scrub forest with interspersed grasslands. The main species are Acacia catechu (Khair), Acacia sp. (Hivar), Dalbergia latifolia (Sisoo), Ziziphus mauritiana (Ber), Carissa opaca (Karwand), Alysicarpus bupleurifolius, Cyathocline purpurea, Eriocauion diane, Merremia emarginata, Cucumis melo, Cyperus kyllingia, Striga densiflora, Mareilea minuta.
The main species are Gazelia bennetti (Chinkara), Hyaena (Hyaena hyaena), Canis lupus (Wolf), Vulpes bengalensis (Indian Fox).

- 20th Feb - Gather at Thane Station east @ 11:30 pm
- 21st Feb - Start our journey @ 12:00 am
- Reach Bhigwan in the early morning.
- Get fresh and have breakfast.
- Start the exploration of the area by private boat.
- Witness the rare species of birds & try to shoot them... with Camera :)
- After lunch head towards Mayureshwar Wildlife sanctuary.
- Explore the Wildlife
- Start the return journey @ 4 pm
- Reach Thane by 9:30 pm
- Bid adieu and return to respective destinations.
