Moments Shoot's Photo Walk 20 - Shaam-E-Iftar – Ramadan @ Mohammad Ali Road on 19th Jul 2014

Shaam-E-Iftar – Ramadan

The ninth month of the Islamic calendar is Ramadan, a time for Muslims to focus on purifying their soul through prayer and self-sacrifice. During Ramadan, more than a billion Muslims around the world observe one of the Five Pillars (duties) of Islam: Fasting.
During Ramadan, Muslims traditionally fast daily from sunrise until sunset. In the evenings, the streets around Mohammad Ali Road in south Mumbai are flooded with people and the tantalizing aroma of meat being freshly roasted to feed the famished. It's not for the faint of heart though, as the road gets very crowded!

The kebabs are a highlight, and apparently the best ones are to be found at Haji Tikka, on Khara Tank Road in Bhendi Bazaar.

Pretty much every town India is worth an extra round of exploring during the holy month of Ramadan to seek out the special delicacies that appear this time of year after evening prayers.

You must try chicken bhoona, kaleji, gurda, bheja, bater, kheema ghotala, nalli nyahari and various kebabs...

And for desert...
You must try Phirni, Malpoha, Aflatun, Gulab Jamuns and many more...
